It was back in the early days of my parenting. I was using mainly my homemade fitted nappies with a handful of Big W covers and it was the middle of the night.

Bub had peed on the change table, dripping down onto the stash below and leaving only one nappy dry enough to use. But I knew this nappy would need more boosting if it was to make it through to 7 am, her usual waking time.

On the shelf next to the change table, my eyes fell on the cloth wipes. Hmm... that might work.

I folded one in thirds, lay it in the nappy and BOOM! Instant absorbency. I couldn't believe it. How flipping easy was that! I suddenly realised ANYTHING could be a booster, but cloth wipes... well, that's a no-brainer. They're already used for little bottoms, they're super absorbent and I always had a whole stack on hand, right near the change table.

My cloth journey just got a whole lot simpler.

Well, that was over 14 years ago and I've since learned there are a lots of fabulous everyday items we can use to boost a nappy in an emergency. If you missed the blog last month, here are just some of those.

Four out of my six babies were born in winter and so I know that it can be hard to maintain cloth at this time of year, but the great news is that with a simple routine and enough nappies in rotation, it’s definitely possible.

Make cloth the easy choice!
