Fundraising with Wet Bags

We are thrilled to announce our new Wet Bag Fundraising Kits, available now for your local school, club, daycare or community group.

Our Wet Bag Fundraising Kits are designed to help your group raise funds for a special project while also encouraging your local community to make the switch from plastic bags to a practical and versatile alternative.

Our wet bags are not just another “thing” that people feel compelled to buy for the support of their organisation, nor something that will be used for a few weeks then thrown away (or gobbled up in a few seconds!). Our wet bags are the kind of item that families use day in and day out for many years, regardless of the number or ages of their children.

WHY WET BAGS?

Reusable wet bags were designed to help cloth nappying parents keep soiled nappies away from their clean nappies while out and about, but have since been embraced by people in all walks of life as an excellent practical alternative to plastic bags. They are made from a special waterproof fabric called polyurethane laminate (PUL) and as such, are useful for a variety of purposes that require keeping something wet away from something dry (or vice versa!).

Australian consumers currently use 3.92 billion plastic bags each year, and these bags have an average life of 12 minutes. The estimated time for breakdown of these bags is between 20 and 1000 years, depending on the conditions.

Now is the time to ditch our love affair with plastic and the useful wet bag is a great way to help us do that.

WHAT CAN YOU USE THEM FOR?

Wet bags can be used for so many different things, whether you have a newborn, a toddler or a teenager. They can even be used by those who don’t have children in the home. Wet bags have a plethora of uses and there’s just no need for plastic. They really are one of the most versatile and practical items that everyone can enjoy.

Although originally developed for use with cloth nappies, their use is certainly not limited to families with babies.

Here are just some of things our family has used wet bags for:

  • Overnight bag with spare change of clothes, pyjamas, small toiletry bag and toy
  • One for each child to place on their bedroom door for dirty clothes
  • To store cloth nappies and training pants when out and about – one for the clean nappies/pants and another to hold the soiled ones
  • Toiletries
  • Swim gear and beach towel
  • Makeshift change mat
  • Games and toy storage (great for grouping ie, doll’s clothes, toy cars, play jewellery, dress-ups)
  • Library bag
  • Gym gear
  • First aid kit
  • Reusable wipes (damp or dry)
  • Change of clothes for a day out
  • Reusable shopping bags – excellent for cold/frozen items and items that could leak
  • Picnic sack
  • To hold a sewing or knitting project that we don’t want getting mixed up with other sewing supplies

Feel like you could use some wet bags in your life? Why not talk to your local local school, club, daycare or community group and get them on board to raise funds for a special project, all while encouraging other families in your area to make ditch plastic bags.
