More Than Just a Business

We’ve had a lot of new mamas join us recently and I feel it’s long overdue to say hello and how do you do! 

As I head towards our 10th year in business, I’m reminded of all the amazing people that I’ve met in this journey – too many to name – but that’s a whole ‘nother post! I’m reminded most especially of why I started this business.

When my (first) little lady was born 9 years ago, she had a decent case of hip dysplasia that would see her in a Pavlik harness for 6 months. I’d been gifted with 36 terry flats for my baby shower and definitely didn’t want to see them just sit there. In spite of all recommendations to the contrary, I persisted with cloth and hunted around for a nappy cover that could be done up around the hips.

I found some cheap ones at Big W, but they quickly wore out and so I went on a Google Mission to find something of higher quality. That’s when I stumbled upon Darlings Downunder. I invested in some Baby BeeHinds goodness and the rest, as they say, is history.

Five babies later. 30,000 nappy changes later. 40+ brands of cloth nappies under my belt. Hundreds of hours of babywearing… Countless hours of parenting and housewife-ing and homeschooling and working-from-home and blogging and sending orders and advocating for a better way… Here we are.

This is so much more than a business. It’s a legacy for my children. It encapsulates the way I parent and the way I live. I don’t do anything by halves.

It’s a part of our family’s journey. I love that it’s a part of yours too. Eva
